The Ontario government is supporting economic development in Ignace.
The PC's are providing $94,500 to help the community hire a consultant to complete three projects.
That individual will be responsible for finalizing a tourism and economic development strategy as well as a community capacity study.
The funding will also create two internship positions.
The projects are a part of a long-term master plan in Ignace.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.
Rickford says he looks forward to identifying and pin-pointing specific economic opportunities, stressing the town has a great team in place to move forward.
He says Ignace potentially represents one of the largest opportunities in the area when it comes to mining and forestry.
Mayor Lee Kennard says this funding has been a long time coming, noting they have been lobbying for the money for about a year.
Mayor-elect Don Cunningham believes their plan will instill faith in the community as well as potential investment in Ignace.
