VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES IN IGNACE

Ignace Skating Club

The Ignace Skating Club is seeking Program Assistants to help with the CanSkate and Pre-Star program. The CanSkate program runs once per week for 50min (Mondays) and Prestar 1 hour on Tuesdays. On ocassion we will require assistance with special events like ice show and annual storage room organization. Email  ignaceskatingclub@gmail.com if you are interested. Figure Skaters and Hockey Players welcome.

There are many opportunities for the public to get involved in throughout the year. The Township of Ignace actively encourages participation by its residents in order to make our community a better place for all to live, work, learn and play. If you are interested in joining one of the committees, please send your request to clerk@ignace.ca​

Mary Berglund Community Health Centre

Volunteering is a great way to give back and feel good. We have 4 wonderful organizations that you can volunteer for: The Ignace Food Bank, The Carousel, The Community Garden and Christmas Cheer. If you are interested in volunteering for one or more of our community programs, please download and fill out this Application Form.  We are also recruiting for new Board Members.

  • Ignace Food Bank -  located in the Ignace Town Plaza behind the Credit Union Building and is open every Thursday to anyone who needs food. The Food Bank is run by the MBCHC staff, partners and volunteers and is a member of the Regional Food Distribution Association.

  • The Carousel - second-hand clothing and household goods outlet located near the Ignace Recreation Centre that is open every Thursday afternoon from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. It is staffed by volunteers.

  • The Community Garden - Located along Highway 17, beside the Ignace Ambulance Service Building, the Garden is used by Food Bank clients and anyone who wishes to participate by planting and tending a raised bed of vegetables.

  • Christmas Cheer - A dedicated group of volunteers ensures that families in need have food hampers and toys for children every year. Fundraising efforts are coordinated by MBCHC staff and various partnerships in the community support the annual drive for food and gifts.

Ignace Otters Snowmobile Club

If you're looking for a great way to get involved, make some new friends and contribute to your local snowmobiling club, there's a great deal of satisfaction from being a volunteer. Not only will you get to join a great team, but your efforts will also go a long way in making snowmobiling even better. There is a wide range of opportunities to get involved, so whether you're the outdoorsy type, interested in community events, administrative or a natural fundraiser, there's a way to share your talents and make a difference. Get the entire family involved and spend some quality time together while being part of a fun, caring and adventurous community.

Ignace Soccer Club

Looking for more coaches and parents to sit on the board.  Becoming a board members is a small but impactful committment.  We meet once a year to discuss the upcoming fall season and then periodically communicate via chat on purchases, changes, concerns. 

​

Ignace Youth Club

Throughout the year we host numerous fundraising initiatives and community events.  Join a dedicated team of volunteers who are working together to grow opportunities for youth.  We are looking for both youth helpers and adult members to supervise programming.
