Township of Ignace

The Township of Ignace actively encourages participation by its residents in order to make our community a better place for all to live, work, learn and play. Volunteering is a great way to give back and feel good. We have 4 wonderful organizations that you can volunteer for: The Ignace Food Bank, The Carousel, The Community Garden and Christmas Cheer. If you are interested in volunteering for one or more of our community programs, please download and fill out this Application Form.

Ignace Food Bank - located in the Ignace Town Plaza behind the Credit Union Building and is open every Thursday to anyone who needs food. The Food Bank is run by the MBCHC staff, partners and volunteers and is a member of the Regional Food Distribution Association.

The Carousel - second-hand clothing and household goods outlet located near the Ignace Recreation Centre that is open every Thursday afternoon from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. It is staffed by volunteers.

The Community Garden - Located along Highway 17, beside the Ignace Ambulance Service Building, the Garden is used by Food Bank clients and anyone who wishes to participate by planting and tending a raised bed of vegetables.

Christmas Cheer - A dedicated group of volunteers ensures that families in need have food hampers and toys for children every year. Fundraising efforts are coordinated by MBCHC staff and various partnerships in the community support the annual drive for food and gifts.
Ignace Otters Snowmobile Club
If you're looking for a great way to get involved, make some new friends and contribute to your local snowmobiling club, there's a great deal of satisfaction from being a volunteer. Not only will you get to join a great team, but your efforts will also go a long way in making snowmobiling even better. There is a wide range of opportunities to get involved, so whether you're the outdoorsy type, interested in community events, administrative or a natural fundraiser, there's a way to share your talents and make a difference. Get the entire family involved and spend some quality time together while being part of a fun, caring and adventurous community.
