General Laborer (Winter Seasonal)

Reporting to the Division Admin Team, the Maintenance Worker/Operator is responsible for:

• Carrying out all assigned routine/non-routine winter highway maintenance operations and activities undertaken from designated patrol centers in an administrative aspect

• Performing activities during the winter season that include but not limited to shovelling, administrative work in a dispatch environment, fast paced

• Utilizing various means of technology, dispatch, communications, reporting requirements to meeting deadlines as required

Other duties as assigned.

• The successful candidate must have/be:

• Valid Class G Ontario license;

• Ability and willingness to work independently or as a part of a team

• Helpful, friendly and courteous with the public, regulatory agencies and peers;

• Punctual, willing to work days/ night shift work which includes weekend work and be willing to work during all seasons/weather;

• Computer knowledge, reading and writing and reporting and documentation ability to record accurate and relevant information

• Strong communication skills and ability to relay information in real time during operations

• Physically able to meet all requirements and perform satisfactorily all highway maintenance and emergency assignments in a manner that promotes cost effective operations, staff co-operation and working in a safe and environmentally friendly manner at all times. This is an administrative type role.
