SUMMER STUDENT POSITION

 

Job Description Title: ICNLC Post-Secondary Summer Student - Research & Project Development

 

Reports Directly to: The Ignace Community Nuclear Liaison Committee (ICNLC) Project Coordinator

Purpose of the Position:

 

Under the supervision of the ICNLC Project Coordinator the Research & Project Development summer student will assist with engagement activities related to Ignace’s participation in Canada’s Adaptive Phased Management (APM) plan for the long-term care of used nuclear fuel.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the ICNLC project coordinator in hosting engagement activities for the community

  • Attend all regular committee meetings of the ICNLC to provide support and take notes as required

  • Prepare for and participate in learning and social activities for children and youth in the local community

  • Provide support with activities and initiatives directed by EDM / or ED Project Coordinator such as workshops, meetings etc.

  • Work with Economic Department staff to prepare communication tools and disseminate information

  • Create regular reports on activities

 

 

Qualifications:

  •  Post-secondary student enrolled in social sciences, applied sciences or other relevant programs

  •  A demonstrated knowledge and detailed understanding of the community of Ignace

  • Have interest in research, project development, youth engagement office administration, communication and recreation activities.

  • Working knowledge of computers

 

Skills:

  • Demonstrated organizational skills

  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrated keyboarding skills

  • Demonstrated computer program usage and research skills

 

Duration of Employment:

  • For a maximum of 16 weeks starting as early as May 4 th through to August 21th , 2020

  • Must be available for occasional evening and weekend work as required

 

Remuneration:

$17.90 per hour plus 4% vacation pay. Based on a 35 hour work week. No benefits. Required Health and Safety training provided.
